Job Description

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Contracts Manager to join a growing mechanical, plumbing and electrical company based on the North East of England. Our client is a leading provider of mechanical, plumbing and electrical services, delivering for a large portfolio of clients across the Tees Valley, the North East and further afield. Clients include Teesside University, Newcastle University, Newcastle RVI, Beyond Housing, Thirteen Group, Tom Willoughby and MoD, Cleveland Police, Cleveland Fire Brigade, Quorn, plus over 70 schools across the north of England.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience of Installation contracts working in public buildings, schools, higher education, university buildings, housing association, care homes and leisure centres and other sites. The position will report to the Senior Contracts Manager and will assist the Senior Management team in developing and implementing business goals and future growth.

 

 

The Role

Managing Electrical works you will be working alongside the company senior management team to deliver on the business goals of the electrical department and the day to day management of the electrical team.

 

You will be responsible for delivering all phases of delivery; from tendering assisting the Senior Contracts Manager and Estimating Manager, site surveys, ensuring all projects are delivered on time to specification and budget. Previous experience in a contract management role for Electrical works is essential.

 

You will directly line manage the Electrical team ensuring effective delivery of services and will also be responsible for ensuring all electrical works are H&S compliant and that client satisfaction is achieved through delivering the highest standards of service at all times. Therefore previous experience of managing staff is essential.

 

You will be the lead for planning electrical installation works and coordinating with the Mechanical team for M&E works and projects; duties will include ordering materials, organising labour, dealing with client queries and acting at the site lead where required.

 

Working with the Senior Contracts Manager and Accounts department will be key in preparing projects for invoicing upon completion and monitoring contract variations.

 

From time to time you may be required to stand in for other members of the team, including the Senior Contracts Manager.

 

 

The main duties and responsibilities are as follows but not limited to;

 

  • Implement the day to day delivery of projects
  • Manage the existing electrical team and develop the department
  • Provide technical support to the electrical team
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients, acting in a professional manner and promoting the company
  • Assist with the business growth of the team and support the senior management team;
  • Lead on electrical enquiries and work with the Estimating and Quality Manager in the preparation and submission of quotations to enable full package M&E submissions;
  • Assist with the preparation of quotations for repairs, installation and maintenance contracts and tenders;
  • To verify all works and inspect work to ensure high standards are maintained
  • To assist in other tasks as and when required to ensure delivery of services
  • Ensure the business submit accurate and clear documentation and service report sheets; including keeping the company CRM up-to-date for all jobs
  • Be responsible for your own health and safety and that of others on site when performing work tasks;
  • Be willing to undertake training that may be required to ensure improve and expand the services offered to clients;
  • Aid alternative disciplines in completing work task as and when required
  • Be willing to develop within the role to aid the development of the company business model

Higher Diploma, Degree or equivalent experience in relevant Electrical or Building Services Engineering

2 years experience of managing mechanical installation works

Highly organised, with the ability to oversee multiple jobs

at any one time, often with pressured time frames and at numerous sites

Must be commercially aware and able to produce

accurate reports

Able to negotiate and liaise across a range of clients,
