Upturn in Private Sector Could Boost Graduate Jobs in Surveying
26 May 2010
Youngsters looking for graduate jobs in surveying within the private sector will have been encouraged by news released at the end of April. The quarterly labour market survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and business advisers KPMG shows the private sector jobs recovery has been gathering pace.
This rapid increase in the first three months of 2010 is a welcome boost to the UK economy and hopefully also for the construction industry. Both the private and public sector employ construction workers and surveyors, so the news is tempered by the harsh reality that cuts in public sector spending are inevitable over the next couple of years or so.
While the prospects are a little more uncertain for school leavers in the UK, graduates can perhaps feel a little more optimistic. The survey found that nearly half of private sector employers interviewed would be recruiting graduates.
Such news is encouraging and hopefully that percentage will increase further with the creation of more and more graduate jobs. Surveying and indeed the construction industry in general will hopefully follow this pattern and inject new blood in to the many and varied professions available.
Planning ahead and contacting potential employers even before taking the final exams is the important thing for anyone looking for graduate jobs. Surveying is however a well sought after profession, and any graduate showing the right aptitude should be able to make a wonderfully rewarding career for themselves.
