Two London planning approvals to create thousands of construction jobs

Are you looking for construction jobs in the South East?
If so, two recent planning announcements look set to create a large number of jobs in the London area. A ?32.3 million project will see a brand new bridge constructed in the South East whilst Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, recently granted permission for the giant regeneration of Battersea Power Station.
New bridge set to create construction jobs
Local transport minister Norman Baker announced this week that he had given the green light to a brand new motor and pedestrian bridge in Surrey. Costain, the contractor, is leading the ?32.3 million project which will see a new bridge built over the river between Shepperton and Walton.
The work will commence early this year and it set to be completed by 2014. The Minister also hinted that there could be more construction jobs created at a number of further projects. Mr Baker said: "The government is committed to delivering major transport improvements which help aid economic growth and I am delighted to be able to announce funding approval for this important scheme.?
Battersea Power Station regeneration to help construction recruitment industry
Work on the long awaited regeneration of London?s iconic Battersea Power Station should also begin this year after the Mayor of London finally gave approval to the ?5.5 billion project. This is London reports that ?the Grade II-listed building will include 1.7 million square feet of offices, shops, restaurants, cinemas, hotels and leisure spaces including London's largest ballroom in a former turbine hall.?
Estimates suggest that there will be up to 25,000 jobs created, many of them construction jobs and construction sales jobs. 16,000 homes are to be built as part of the project and there will be a two stop extension to the Northern Line.
