Thinking about a Career Shift? Construction Superintendent Jobs could be The Next Step

Construction superintendent jobs can offer experienced people in the construction industry an interesting change in their career paths. These types of jobs can provide a new outlook within the industry for people that specialise in more than one area of construction.

People looking for additional responsibility and new challenges in the industry may like to consider applying for construction superintendent jobs. Given the additional responsibility and level of experience required in the role, construction superintendent jobs will potentially offer an increase in salary too.

As well as have practical experience of at least one trade, candidates will need some other skills and knowledge if they want to progress to a construction superintendent role. Having a background in supervising staff, building codes, blueprint reading and budget management will prove valuable assets for any budding superintendents.

It may not be necessary to have qualifications specific to the role as experience counts for a great deal and many gain an increased know how on the job. However, qualifications relating to building design, construction science, cost estimating, drafting and/or general business management can also help towards career progression.

Great organisational skills are required to be a superintendent with many facets of a project to be overseen and dealt with, sometimes all at the same time. Occasionally it is necessary to be a diplomat too in reporting on progress to the project owners, whilst also dealing with staff and ensuring deadlines are met and budgets adhered to.
