Skilled Construction Jobs Being Created as UK Unemployment Falls
26 July 2010
It seems that the prospect of additional skilled construction jobs being created in the UK is definitely improving with unemployment falling slightly in figures released in July. If the evidence of the new postings on this website is anything to go by, then private sector firms appear to be hiring again and are advertising more and more skilled construction jobs.
Indeed prospects in the UK generally look better for the time being in spite of proposed cuts in the public sector. Confidence is building again in the private sector with more firms willing and able to invest not just in new projects but also in talented skilled workers such as engineers, surveyors, builders and other construction related jobs.
The unemployment figures released in the middle of July indicated the UK economy has stabilised according to Andrew Sentance, who is a member of the Bank of England?s Monetary Policy Committee. Figures showed that unemployment fell in the three months to May by 34,000 giving the UK a jobless rate of 7.8 percent, although most would agree this is still too high.
However, this rate compares favourably with the euro zone where the jobless figure is 10 percent and in the U.S where the unemployment level is 9.5 percent. Clearly there is still a long way to go and some tough decisions need to be made to reduce unemployment by a lot more, but the signs are encouraging for the jobs market including in skilled construction jobs.
