Quantity Surveying Vacancies Highlight an Interesting and Varied Profession

A few minutes scouring through the available jobs on this very website show a number of quantity surveying vacancies have appeared in recent weeks. These have been related to many different areas of the construction industry such as scaffolding, industrial roofing and demolition to name but a few.
This underlines the fact that the construction industry has many interesting and varied elements to it, and more often than not quantity surveying plays a key role in projects. While the education and training required for qualification as a quantity surveyor is tough and intense, the rewards can be far reaching in terms of salary and job satisfaction.
Many people perhaps undervalue the role of a quantity surveyor, as unless they are heavily involved in a construction project they probably don?t appreciate how much involvement surveyors have. For example, it might be easy to think there was no requirement for surveyors to be involved in a demolition task, but this is far from true.
There are many factors to consider when undertaking a large demolition project such as the quality of the contractors as well as health and safety. Still a major issue in this country is asbestos so a survey prior to demolition work is carried out is essential, and this is why we see more quantity surveying vacancies appearing under the demolition category.
