Qualifications and the German Language May Open Doors to Construction Jobs in Germany
Finding construction jobs in Germany or indeed most overseas territories is not very easy at the moment but certainly feasible. In fact, a slight shortage of skilled workers in occupations such as electrical and mechanical engineering has been reported in Germany.
One of the easiest ways to get construction jobs in Germany is through a large UK or multinational company with offices in the country. Gaining qualifications and experience in the UK first is more likely to improve your prospects of finding work in Germany.
UK Graduates may not find it so easy to get construction jobs in Germany as the German degree courses typically last seven years. The courses arguably offer a greater level of training than in the UK and therefore employers are more likely to offer a job to German graduates.
This shouldn?t deter people from applying for roles overseas though, especially if they have learnt the language already. Speaking fluent German is probably a necessity to stand any realistic chance of finding a job in the country.
Language skills are particularly important in a technical environment such as engineering and it may be necessary to take an advanced course to learn the technical vocabulary. Having UK qualifications and chartered status will also help as these are respected by construction organisations throughout the world.
There are many different reasons why British workers seek employment in countries like Germany. The main thing to realise is that whilst the economic environment doesn?t help matters, it shouldn?t be a barrier to finding a construction job abroad.
