Prospects for Construction Jobs in UK Continue to Improve
Bright news continues to filter though for construction jobs in the UK with figures released in August by the Office of National Statistics (ONS). The figures showed a 23 percent decrease in the number of redundancies in the construction industry over the previous three months.
This is the fourth quarter in a row to show a drop in people being made redundant from their construction jobs in the UK. That is not to say the situation is perfect as there were still 21,000 workers laid off between April and June, but that does represent a 53 percent drop compared to the same period last year.
An increase in construction jobs in the UK being advertised on this website appears to be the general trend for the industry at the moment. ONS figures also showed that the number of vacancies in construction rose by 2,000 to 11,000 from the first quarter to the second, which represents an increase of 21 percent.
Whilst the figures released by the ONS are clearly encouraging, there is no room for complacency for anyone in the construction industry. This is especially so for job seekers as it is still essential for a strong case to be built in order to attract the attention of employers.
As well as registering with top agencies such as Humres, jobseekers should get in touch with some old contacts and make it known that they are looking for a job. For anyone who is unfortunate to have been made redundant last quarter, having as many people as possible helping your job search could just make your period of unemployment a short one.
