Professional Looking Social Networking Sites Can Aid Recruitment Prospects
21 December 2009

The recruitment process has changed enormously in recent years with the internet providing job seekers with excellent resources for job hunting. The way we present ourselves to prospective employers has also changed with the increasing popularity of social networking sites.

Many would consider social networking sites irrelevant when it comes to job hunting. However, some recruitment experts suggest that social networking sites are an excellent source for finding excellent candidates.

That said, anyone looking for a job thinking that setting up a facebook or twitter page will enhance their prospects should remember a few points. These social networking sites will act as your ?social CV? and therefore, as with any normal CV it should be presented in a professional and smart manner.

Using your facebook or equivalent page to enhance your recruitment prospects has to be carefully considered and prepared. After all you wouldn?t add pictures on your CV with you and your mates poking tongues at the camera, and you wouldn?t turn up to an interview with a ?kiss me quick? hat on.

Sites like You Tube do to some extent offer the public the opportunity of a few minutes of fame, but job seekers have to remember their behaviour is there for all to see. Recruiters and employers are increasingly checking the online behaviour of candidates in assessing their suitability and judgment.

Times are a changing and the days of presenting a CV lovingly prepared on a type writer are long gone. Not only do job seekers have to present themselves and their CVs in a professional manner, but they also need to scrutinise their online presentation.
