Nuclear Energy Could Generate Construction Jobs in France and Other European Countries
09 December 2010
Construction jobs in France have been somewhat thin on the ground over the last couple of years, as indeed they have been in much of Europe. Some chinks of light are being thrown towards the construction industry in France though alternative sources of energy.
There has been much publicity about using solar and wind power as an alternative source of energy. However, many countries are also keen to pursue the option of nuclear energy, which is exactly what is being built in France. The construction of a Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor is being managed by a consortium of three European firms.
The project is being funded by the EU, China, USA, Russia, India, Japan and Korea. It is hoped the experiment will find new ways to generate energy but in the process will generate important engineering opportunities. It highlights the importance of alternative energy not only to the environment but also construction jobs in France, the UK and other countries around the world.
People looking for construction jobs in France may not find a huge increase in employment opportunities just yet. However, many countries including France are looking for talented, qualified engineers and surveyors. Anyone with skills relating to the construction of alternative energy sites will also be very marketable in many EU countries.
There are numerous training opportunities for construction workers looking to improve their knowledge and skill levels. Speaking French can only help the chances of British workers looking for employment on the other side of the English Channel.
