New Centre Creates 140 Logistics Jobs
One of the UK’s leading consumer firms has officially opened a new, stat of the art, logistics centre in Lancashire. Kimberly-Clark who owns some of the best known consumer brands in Britain has created 140 logistics jobs at the centre in Chorley.
Distribution centre key to Kimberly-Clark’s strategy
Whilst their name may not be immediately familiar, Kimberly-Clark’s brands include Kleenex, Huggies, Little Swimmers, Dry Nites and Andrex.
The new centre in the Lancashire town of Chorley has created 140 local logistics jobs and is part of a wider European distribution strategy. The company wants to reduce the complexity of its distribution network in order to offer a better service to it supermarket customers in the North of England. The strategy will also reduce carbon emissions by taking more trucks off the road.
TDG to operate the new logistics centre
The new, highly automated distribution facility will be operated by TDG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Norbert Dentrassangle. TDG has been responsible for local recruitment and filling the 140 logistics jobs created at the new centre.
TDG has worked with Kimberly-Clark for over forty years and has forged a strong and successful supply chain partnership.
The company have invested over £7 million on a state of the art automated storage system for the warehouse. Situated in Chorley’s Revolution Park, the 33,445 square metre facility is able to hold over 60,000 pallets of products. This is equivalent to 576 million rolls of Andrex toilet tissue or over four billion Huggies nappies.
