Marketing Yourself for a Job in Marketing
15 February 2010

There is perhaps a certain irony when looking for a job in marketing that the job seeker has to demonstrate their skills in this field right from the off. Anyone applying for a job has to demonstrate they are that much better than the competition by producing a skilfully pitched application.

Excellently written CVs are vital to get potential employers to consider your application, otherwise you won?t get past first base. Failing at this stage can be very demoralising as you haven?t been given an opportunity to work your magic in the interview room.

A knockout CV is important for anyone harbouring thoughts of landing the role, be it a job in marketing or packing shelves in the supermarket. There are several tools now on the internet for job seekers to exploit and improve the quality of their CV, whilst the excellent team at HR UK Recruitment is also very willing to offer assistance.

Hopefully a potential employer will be impressed by your application and will call you in for an interview. No two interviewers are the same but there are some very simple rules to follow in any interview.

The old adage that first impressions last is certainly true at interviews, so dress smartly and be courteous towards your host. It is also important to be prepared so you can field any questions that come your way confidently, as well as asking the interviewer intelligent questions about the job.

This would seem to most to be self explanatory stuff, but you would be surprised how under-prepared some people are at an interview. There are much more detailed tips about interviews on this website for anyone looking for a job in marketing, sales or anywhere in the construction industry.
