Marketing Jobs Vital in Any Industry
09 November 2009
Getting that first job in a specific industry or sector can often be frustrating and downright difficult even for the most ambitious people. The current job situation in the UK of course doesn?t help, so it is vital for job seekers to be well prepared when they see a role that really floats their boat.
Qualifications are often an important ingredient to winning that dream job, but some people worry that getting a degree in a certain subject can narrow the employment options. This isn?t necessarily the case as employers will take a look at the bigger picture when it comes to how the qualification was gained and what skills the candidate brings to their table.
Take marketing jobs for example, where a degree in mathematics may not on the face of it seem the ideal qualification. However, this could show that the candidate has a level of problem solving skills that a company?s marketing department is specifically looking for.
In fact marketing jobs require a mix of skills, and an interest in people and a head for commerce will go a long way towards forging a career in marketing. Such skills are often enhanced through marketing and social science degrees, but studying another subject doesn?t rule graduates out of a career in marketing.
Marketing plays a crucial part in any organisation whether it is in the private sector, public sector or even chairties, and that is why a diverse mix of qualifications may be needed anywhere. A degree coupled with good communication skills, awareness of new media, teamworking, negotiation, time management skills and perhaps a foreign language can all help to land a career in marketing.
