Marketing Jobs Play Important Role in Selling Developments to the Public
27 January 2010
There should be no underestimating the importance of marketing jobs within an organisation, and this applies to the construction industry as much as any other. For example when a council bring in developers to give the town centre a face lift, very often strong marketing techniques have to be employed to bring the tax paying public on board.
The last thing developers need is bad feeling towards them from the local community as not only is it bad PR, but can also hold up projects and subsequently increase costs of the development. Therefore, it is important for construction firms and indeed local authorities to have strong and creative people filling their marketing jobs.
Working with the general public and gaining their approval for development plans can pay huge dividends, as was the case for one high profile project in London. Real Estate Opportunities and Treasury Holdings hosted a third public exhibition in December to present their plans to transform the inconic Battersea Power Station.
Since the power station ceased generating electricity back in 1983, the building has been largely redundant with several plans to develop it not coming to fruition. In that respect perhaps selling a new idea to the public was not so difficult, but it has gained over 80 percent approval from the public.
Sound development plans and good marketing have seen the approval rating rise by 20 percent since the second public exhibition in June 2009. It shows the value of marketing jobs within the construction industry and what a rewarding career it can be.
