Logistics jobs drive online job demand in 2010

Despite continuing concerns over the UK?s economic recovery, a new survey has found that online recruitment advertising demand actually grew in 2010. The research found that demand grew by double digits between December 2009 and December 2010 and that logistics jobs were one of the main drivers of this increase.

11 per cent increase in web recruitment
The Monster Employment Index, compiled by the widely-used international jobs board, showed an 11 per cent year on year rise in web recruitment to December 2010.

Geoff Newman, the chief executive of a major online recruiter, said that "strong growth in web recruitment is not particularly surprising given the huge cost-savings and reduced time to hire. Indeed we were noticing strong demand with employers posting jobs right up to Christmas Day".
Logistics jobs drives online recruitment

The research showed that there were several key employment sectors that saw year on year growth. These were transport, post IT and logistics; great news for anyone heading online to research the best logistics jobs.

There were annual declines in web recruitment for public sector and defence and community jobs, closely followed by jobs in the tourism and hospitality trade.

Job market better in 2010 than 2009

A spokesman for Monster said that the figures showed that there had been a clear improvement in the state of the UK job market over the last year. He said: ?The Monster Employment Index recorded a consistent increase in overall online job opportunities.

"Though this upward trend continues, the pace of increase has slowed in recent months. This could possibly be attributed to the severe cold snap in December, which has had a particular impact on recruitment activity in sectors such as hospitality and tourism and sales."

So, if you are looking for the best logistics jobs, the web is the place to go. With recruitment in the logistics sector increasing over the last year, there has never been a better time to head online and look for the best jobs in logistics.
