Light at the End of the Tunnel for Construction, Sales & Marketing Jobs
25 January 2010
It has been a tough year finding new construction, sales and marketing jobs with the industry severely hit by the recession, and certainly 2010 will be no walk in the park. However, a glimmer of hope appeared out of some otherwise fairly depressing news about the UK economy.
The UK remained in recession during the third quarter of 2009 with GDP contracting by 0.2 percent, which is disappointing as this is now six successive quarters of recession. The good news was that the The Office for National Statistics unveiled figures revealing a growth of almost two per cent in construction output during the three months to 30 September.
This upturn was largely due to a ?1 billion increase in repair and maintenance work, which will have been a welcome boost to construction workers, but what will this have done for other areas of the industry such as sales and marketing jobs? It is in a important time in all areas of the construction industry, but at a time when we hope the country will come out of recession soon, the role of the sales and marketing teams becomes more important than ever.
New jobs in the industry are certainly being placed on this very website at regular intervals, with openings within construction including sales and marketing jobs arising throughout December. Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel and 2010 starts with more opportunities within the construction industry.
