Leading facilities management firm announces bright start to 2011
If the news from January is anything to go by, 2011 could be a successful year for facilities management companies. Carillion, one of the largest construction and facilities management firms in the UK, has announced that it has made a positive and successful start to the New Year with contracts worth £350 million already lined up.
Facilities management job opportunities as Carillion secures large deals
The firm tied up £190 million of contracts for its support services business in just the first month of 2011. These deals include a £25 million contract to provide facilities management services to the Land Registry estate of 37 properties and, also, a £75 million contract with BAA to provide electrical and mechanical engineering services at Heathrow Airport.
Whilst Carillion already employs around 50,000 staff, there are likely to be lots of facilities management jobs available as the company takes over these substantial contracts.
Other Carillion sectors also announce good start to 2011
Carillion’s other businesses have also announced a positive start to 2011. For example, in the domestic construction sector, the group has won contracts worth £66 million since the start of the year.
These contracts include a £45 million contract with Defence Estates to build new, and refurbish existing, accommodation at Whittington Barracks and a £21 million deal for a social rented and shared equity apartment building in London's Kings Cross.
In addition, Carillion’s Canadian construction division has secured contracts worth £110 million. These include a £60 million deal to build a new shopping centre in Victoria, British Columbia, and a £51 million contract to build the new Queensway Carlton Hospital in Ottawa.
