Keep Your Knowledge up to Date When Applying for Building Surveying Vacancies
17 May 2010

There are building surveying vacancies appearing on the Humres website that relate to specific areas of the construction industry. For example a recent posting requires experience for a building surveyor in the field of industrial roofing.

Following the trend in many fields of the construction industry, the area of industrial roofing is adapting to many new challenges. Obviously the economic situation is a big issue for industrial roofing companies, but the need to use sustainable materials is another element keeping people in the industry on their toes.

Older materials are being phased out as they are not environmentally friendly or indeed recyclable. Therefore, job seekers looking for building surveying vacancies will need to be aware of and knowledgeable about these changes with a big shift towards thermoplastics in particular.

Thermoplastic is apparently cost effective, aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly but is not perfect. Industrial roofing has much improved in quality over recent years but it still needs to be inspected on a regular basis by experts in this field.

Employers advertising building surveying vacancies on this website will be expecting candidates to have an excellent working knowledge of such roofing materials. Not only that but they will want potential employees to demonstrate they can provide solutions to roofing problems.

So for surveyors that have perhaps not worked for some time for whatever reason, it is important to keep up to speed with new developments and practices in the profession. Reading trade magazines is a good way to achieve this for things in this day and age change ever so quickly.
