Jobs in Construction Need Good Low Carbon Skills Now and in the Future
07 July 2010
Jobs in construction and other industries evolve over the years to meet the demands of customers, government legislation and various other factors. Currently we have many concerns that directly impact the construction industry such as the UK and global economy as well as climate change.
The economy is stabilising and hopefully will begin to strengthen over the next few months and years, which in turn should lead to more jobs in construction. Issues concerning the environment and specifically climate change will be an ongoing process.
The environmental concerns surrounding the industry were touched upon in a letter to Building Magazine by the new construction minister, Mark Prisk. He gives assurances of his commitment to supporting the industry, and in particular his determination to support good low carbon skills now and in the future.
There is a great onus on companies in the industry to introduce and develop green initiatives to meet new low carbon standards. Not only that but it is advisable for people looking for jobs in construction to understand new regulations and best practices.
In fact no matter what jobs you are looking for, it is a distinct advantage if you can show to employers that you understand what new developments are happening and how this may impact companies. So job seekers can always keep up to date with industry news through trade magazines as well as helpful recruitment agency websites such as this one.
