How Language Skills Might be Beneficial in Sales and Marketing Manager Jobs
15 March 2010
When anyone applies for a job, whether it is in engineering or sales and marketing manager jobs, they have to make sure they stand out as the ideal candidate compared to the competition. As we know unemployment has started to fall again at the start of 2010, but competition for jobs is still substantial in many areas so a CV needs to have something special.
In any industry these days, language skills are an absolute bonus and can increase your marketability as well as your earning potential. This is no different in the construction industry as companies look to other shores to attract business and win major contracts.
This is especially so these days with a rapidly growing global economy, increased competition in the UK and of course the industry in this country struggling to come out of a troublesome two years or so. To that extent it seems likely more and more marketing manager jobs will require candidates to be able to speak at least one additional language.
What is more, marketing manager jobs at major companies will require not just the ability to speak a foreign language fluently, but also a thorough understanding of the business cultures of other countries. That way they will be able to run campaigns in other countries and break into new markets as well.
In Britain we are often accused of expecting other countries to speak English, which many do of course. However, in a competitive market learning to converse with clients in their native tongue can often be a crucial difference between winning and losing a bid.
