Further Industry Growth Brings Renewed Hope for Civil Construction Jobs
09 July 2010
Good news for civil construction jobs emerged from figures released at the beginning of June, which will be of great relief to job seekers and employers in the industry. The Markit/CIPS purchasing managers? index for May showed the fastest expansion in UK construction for almost three years.
This means the UK construction industry has grown for a third successive month due in part to an increase in house building. It also provides evidence that the industry is starting to follow the pattern of the rest of the UK economy and climbing out of recession, which could mean a timely boost for civil construction jobs.
Activity among civil engineering companies had been particularly badly hit over the last two years, but this area had its first month of growth in May. Indeed employment in the construction sector also grew for the first time in two years.
Howard Archer, chief UK economist at IHS Global Insight explained that this was a positive sign for the UK construction industry. He said that the sector was ?now on the mend after suffering deep, extended recession?.
It is hoped that this string of good results for the construction industry can be maintained although we still await news of cuts in the public sector. However, the signs for the construction industry look much more positive than they did at the start of the year.
Humres continue to work hard at ensuring civil construction jobs as well as many others are posted on this website swiftly. Amidst this renewed hope of continued growth in construction in the UK, keep checking this site for an increased number of vacancies.
