Finding a New Construction Job after Redundancy

Losing your construction job through redundancy is clearly a terrible situation and people have their own way of dealing with the situation. It is something all too many have experienced over the last two years and in spite of the improving economic situation in the UK, more will suffer this fate.

However, people in that boat shouldn?t feel too downcast as the jobs market has improved with the private sector finding a whole new degree of confidence. In August the big construction group Balfour Beatty demonstrated confidence in their outlook after increased revenues by raising its dividend.

Big companies such as Balfour Beatty do not fear the government cut backs in the public sector as much as some commentators, and believe that business will continue to grow. Anyone that has lost their construction job should continue to believe that another post is just around the corner.

It is of course important to make sure your CV is up to date and there are tools available on the internet to help in this process. Registering with a reputable agency like Humres will also mean you have additional ears and eyes hunting for a possible new construction job, as well as invaluable advice about CVs and interview techniques if needed.

Don?t let redundancy dent your confidence either as it shouldn?t be taken personally, for it is the job that has been made redundant, not you. Any additional training and qualifications you can take during the enforced sabbatical will also be very helpful in finding a new job, as it shows employers a commitment and a desire to learn and improve.
