Engineering a Way into Entry Level Construction Jobs

In spite of the delicate economic circumstances in the UK, entry level construction jobs are still available to graduates around the country. Perhaps the strongest area within the construction sector is that of engineering, where the future looks quite promising for graduates.

A brief look at the new vacancies appearing on the Humres website will highlight this fact. There are many new engineering roles being advertised on a regular basis, showing what an important part of the construction industry engineers are.

Many of the larger employers run engineering and technology graduate training programmes, which job seekers can apply for directly. There is no denying that in this current economic climate, getting on a graduate scheme can be competitive.

Industrial placement experience or related work experience will help applicants stand out from the crowd and improve their prospects of getting on one of these schemes. As an addendum, smaller firms will offer entry level construction jobs to graduate engineers.

Entry level construction jobs can offer a wide range of salaries but for engineers these can be quite generous with salaries from ?20,000 and rising quickly with career progression. This can be especially so for those who become a chartered engineer or an incorporated engineer.

In order to become a chartered engineer or an incorporated engineer, workers will need to be accredited by the Engineering Council. Applying for engineering jobs is a competitive task in this country, yet there are skills shortages in this country and in many other countries around the world.
