Construction Jobs Worldwide to Fill Skill Shortage Gap
09 August 2010
As has been the case in the UK, construction jobs worldwide have been hit by the global recession, as projects have been cancelled or postponed due to a lack of financing or companies going bust. However, there have been some countries relatively unaffected by the recession and as a result are seeing lots of investment in construction projects.
For example, it must be an exciting time in Brazil with both the 2014 Football World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games awarded to the South Americans. The need for new stadiums and facilities, as we have seen in London, provides a boost to a country?s construction industry.
The UK Government is looking to reform the welfare system and provide incentives for the unemployed to move to areas where there are jobs. However, some construction industry workers may also be looking at finding work overseas.
Many skills gained by construction workers are easily transferable to any country and of course plenty have found opportunities over recent years in the Middle East. Finding construction jobs worldwide is a big step for anyone to take and there are some big considerations to take in to account.
Working within the EU is a relatively straight forward process as there is no requirement for a work permit as opposed to other parts of the world. However, advice on this matter can easily be found by contacting the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
It is important to research particular countries of interest and what the visa rules are when looking for construction jobs worldwide. Some countries even publish lists of their skill shortage areas, which could mean British workers potentially being welcomed with open arms.
