Coming out of Recession Will be an Important Time for Marketing London Jobs
06 January 2010
Agencies marketing London jobs have had their work cut out this year as the capital now has the highest unemployment rate in the country. Statistics show that by mid December just 69 percent of working age adults were in employment in London compared to the national average of 75 percent.
The news has been dominated over the last 12 months by the plight of the banking industry, which has undoubtedly had a big effect on London?s unemployment figures. However, there has been a knock on effect from the credit crunch impacting many other industries in the capital and across the country.
During a recession one of the areas companies look to cut back on straight away is in marketing. London jobs in this particular area have been no different, but with the Olympic Games heading to the capital in 2012 it is hoped that this will quickly change.
The London Development Agency (LDA) estimate 70,000 jobs will be created as a result of the Olympic Games with many of these in the construction industry. However, the industry cannot rely upon this exciting event and other public sector projects alone.
More companies generally fail coming out of a recession than going in to one and this is where we see the importance of marketing. London jobs could be created in this field as companies realise that now is a crucial time for the construction industry.
Companies cannot afford to let their level of service drop and must promote their services effectively to gain an advantage over their competitors. This may be an opportunity for marketing specialists to find an important role within the consruction industry in London and elsewhere across the UK.
