Can the Next Government Secure Jobs for our Brick Layers and Quantity Surveyors?
04 May 2010
British people from all walks of life such as quantity surveyors, brick layers, bankers and shop keepers will have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote in the May 6th general election. It seems ironic in many ways that members of the public looking for or battling to save their jobs get the opportunity to potentially vote their local MP out of a job.
Whether voting in the general election gets as much public interest as the X-Factor or Strictly Come Dancing is questionable, and you can bet that MPs losing their seats will get little sympathy from the public. However, interest in this election should be greater than it has been for many years given the uncertainty of people?s futures and their jobs.
The British public should be keen to see what promises each party can give about jobs, the economy and public services given the difficult two years the country has encountered. Will the brick layers and quantity surveyors in this country be able to see a bright future in the construction industry for example?
Certainly prospects are looking brighter for the construction industry as the private sector is now growing in confidence. The need for alternative forms of energy and power supplies as well as better transportation and roads are amongst the things binging investment in to the country.
Whoever comes to power in May will hopefully recognise the need to maintain this improved confidence so as to not only secure existing jobs, but also create new vacancies for our brick layers and quantity surveyors. One thing is for sure though, that new vacancies are picking up this year so it is well worth checking this website regularly for new postings.
