A Dutch Call to British Students Might Lead to Construction Jobs in Holland
As is the case in much of Europe since 2008, construction jobs in Holland have not exactly been filling the vacancy pages of newspapers and agency websites. However, the Netherlands may well be an attractive place for British people to live, especially students looking for good quality degree courses costing much less than at British universities.
With tuition fees already high and likely to get higher still here, Dutch universities are targeting British students to encourage them to take degrees in places such as Maastricht. There are numerous degree courses available in the Netherlands that are relevant to construction, some of which are taught in English as well as Dutch.
Taking a specialist course relevant to construction could provide students with an excellent stepping stone to a career in Holland or the UK. Currently the Dutch job market is looking to pick up after a difficult period but the unemployment rate here is much lower than in the UK, US, France and Germany.
The best prospects for construction jobs in Holland appears to be in the field of engineering, where this is a skills shortage here. Whilst construction jobs in Holland are not abundant at the moment, skilled workers and especially engineers are still sought after.
Students looking to earn the necessary qualifications to work in the construction industry in Holland can search the Netherlands Embassy website. Here they will find some good degree courses in cities such as Eindhoven and Delft.
