550 new logistics jobs to be created in north London
Tesco has long been the UK’s retail success story. The giant retailer takes one pound of every seven spent in the UK and has grown into one of the country’s largest corporations. Now, with its continued expansion, Tesco is creating 550 logistics jobs at a new distribution centre in north London.
New e-commerce warehouse will create 550 logistics jobs
The £20 million deal will see a 152,000 square foot building be built on a 15.5 acre site in Enfield. Gazeley, the global provider of sustainable logistics, beat significant competition to win the building contract.
Nigel Godfrey, Senior Vice President of UK Operations at Gazeley, said: “We have significant experience in delivering bespoke solutions for our customers. Our partnership approach means we are able to deliver this strategic site for Tesco in a short timescale to the highest quality specification.”
The new centre will create 550 logistics positions; great news if you are looking for a new construction or logistics job.
New logistics hub built to ‘highest quality specification’
The new warehouse is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2011, with practical completion expected in just 20 weeks.
Mr Godfrey continued: “E-commerce developments are an increasing requirement for retailers and being able to deliver efficiently and effectively is vital. We are looking to build on this deal to deliver solutions for major companies that have urgent requirements for such facilities
