About the Role:
The PV Systems Technical Support Engineer is a key member of the PV Systems business responsible for supporting all technical aspects of the PV product range through their whole life.
Liaison with factories in Japan and other branch businesses as necessary to support product development, launch and technical support including warranty.
Pre-sales technical support including design input and proposals for customers and to support PV Systems and LES sales forces in customer discussions and negotiations concerning system performance, layout and feasibility.
Working with other internal elements of the LES business such as After-sales, Marcomms, Sales force and CLA to ensure best in class support and roll out of PV Systems products to customers.
A high level of business awareness, excellent personal organisation, good communication, skills, quality conscious, forward planning skills and adaptability to a constantly changing business environment are essential to this role.
The ability to effectively support a sales role and/or bring these skills to the role would be highly beneficial.
Technical support at customer and client sites in the UK as necessary
Able to travel within UK and possibly EU and Japan to support training, customer visits and business development.
Development of processes and systems to support business reporting requirements and information management.
About the Candidate:
Minimum ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering with degree preferable
Part P and 17th Edition Electrician qualifications highly desirable
Installation & Testing of Photovoltaic Systems City & Guilds 2372 desirable
Proven experience working in a PV installer company working to MCS
Ability to design PV systems for domestic through to commercial applications
Experience with multiple mounting/framing systems
Experience/knowledge of all mainstream and future PV technologies
Competence with PVSYST or Solar Pro simulation software
Ability to work within a cross functional team
Experience in report writing and proposal development skills
Ability to demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills
Quality systems experience such as ISO 9001/2000
Familiarity with IEC 61215:2005 and other relevant PV standards
