Outstanding opportunity to open up new rail division in major national contractor as their Rail Manager.


About the Client:
Our client is currently looking for a rail professional to realise and deliver a new rail venture. You will report to the Director responsible for the rail sector and will work alongside the business unit’s management team and departmental team leaders to achieve the business objectives. You will have direct responsibility for the Rail Engineer(s), Rail Administrator, Rail Employees and all support staff working on rail specific projects.


About the Role:
  • Arrange internal and site audits, ensuring that records are filed as appropriate.
  • Produce and review with the Directors on a monthly basis the current sales forecast, summary of the contract progress reports and cost/value reconciliation reports.
  • The Rail Manager shall also liaise with all internal support departments to ensure that project(s) are safely delivered to Network Rail standards and meet the Company objectives. This is likely to include, but not limited to Sales, Estimating, Pre-Construction/Planning, Contracting and Commercial departments
  • Ensure that the Rail Administrator is aware of and understands the Rail procedures and instructions and adheres to them at all times.
  • Provide adequate resources, including finance and time, for implementing the rail management System.
  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents and cases of work related ill health are reported (including reporting under RIDDOR); investigated and appropriate corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence.


About the Candidate:
  • Experienced in setting up a rail division.
  • It is essential that the candidate have excellent client management, communication and planning skills and extensive knowledge of Network Rail standards and specifications along with work package planning and task briefings.
  • Experienced in ensuring that project(s) are safely delivered to Network Rail standards and meet the Company objectives. This is likely to include, but not limited to Sales, Estimating, Pre-Construction/Planning, Contracting and Commercial departments.
  • Experience of implementing and maintaining rail management system procedures in a number of areas such as risk assessments.
