Exciting opportunity to come in as a Buyer for this well know Construction Company
Our client was established in 1970, and operating from its head office in South Yorkshire and regional offices in the North West and Scotland, they provides a wide range of design, project management, construction and engineering services across the civil engineering sector.
- The initiation of pre-contract Material, Sub-contract, and Plant procurement on receipt of tender documents, incorporating all necessary and relevant contractual requirements.
- Contributing to the procurement strategy for subcontracts in particular and maximising overall supply chain efficiency through the tender process.
- Liaison within the estimating team with respect to progressing of supplier and subcontractor enquiries.
- Assist with the technical and commercial assessment of quotes received in liaison with the estimating team and assisting with the management of the downstream procurement process in liaison with the purchasing team.
- Assist with analysis and pricing of risks with respect to quotations.
- Assist with the live updating of estimating procurement reports.
- Assist with maintaining resource list prices library.
- Providing information with respect to elements of technical submissions.
- Must be able to take off and abstract sub-contract work elements, materials, their quantities and specifications, from clients’ documents.
- Possess a degree of contracting and estimating experience and have an understanding of the tendering and construction process.
- Should have the ability to work within a multidisciplinary estimating team.
- Must be able to understand and follow good estimating procedures, be well-organised, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
- Experience in Rail Engineering would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Must be a proven communicator at all levels with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders across the Business.
- Experience of procurement and supply chain liaison, preferably within civils sector of construction, an advantage.
- Must be IT literate, particularly with MS Office software.
- A working knowledge of common construction estimating software will be an advantage
